Class “A” Course Overview & Description

Types of vehicles allowed to drive: Any Tractor-Trailer Combination.
May also drive vehicle in class: D and G.

The Tractor-Trailer Mandatory Entry Level Training (MELT) Program is approved as a vocational program under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005. Metro Truck Driving School is an accredited Career College (#176755), thus students are eligible for a T2202 form for income taxes.

MELT Course Curriculum (103.5 hours)

The expected course timeline is 5 weeks and consists of the following:

  • 36.5 Hours of in-class Learning and Comprehension Tests
  • 17 Hours of Vehicle Inspections
  • 18 Hours of Yard Training (Coupling/Uncoupling, Backing)
  • 32 Hours of on the Road Training
  • Certificate Provided Upon Completion

The yard training and road driving is conducted entirely one-on-one between students and instructors. Our facilities and equipment are best-in-class in the industry, including a well-maintained and paved yard as well as over a dozen vehicles.
