How to Obtain An MTO Commercial License

All driving licences require the satisfactory completion of an MTO (Ministry of Transportation Ontario) written knowledge test as well as a practical road test. In addition there may be more requirements depending on the Class of license, some of which are provided below. However, we suggest that you contact our training coordinators by calling 905-673-1441 or filling out the input form on our website to obtain the most accurate information.

MTO License
Students must hold a valid Ontario Class G license or higher.

Age Requirements
i) 18 years old to obtain Classes; A, C, D, F.
ii) 21 years old to obtain Classes; B, E.

Medical Standards
Students must clear a standardized medical check for commercial truck drivers. We can refer students to a local medical practitioner that charges a fee of only $50! Alternatively, students can print out the form and inquire with their family practitioner or other walk-in clinics.

MTO Knowledge Test
Students must achieve 80% or better on the MTO knowledge test for their desired Class of license. A comprehensive practice test is available at our office for students.

i) Classes B and C require that students also pass the Class D knowledge test.

Students should meet all of the above requirements and standards before commencing any training and operating commercial vehicles. Review our course catalogue below to learn about the various package options offered for training.
